Learn about Membership
Why:
First Baptist Church is a family of believers who have come together to follow Jesus Christ and to share His love throughout Weatherford, Texas and the entire world. For that reason there are four things that we share together:
Salvation:
Every member of FBC has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior and Lord. We have all acknowledged God’s love for us; our sinfulness, and God’s provision of salvation for us through Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection. Having acknowledged these truths we have, each of us, personally accepted the gift of salvation through Christ. Furthermore, we have demonstrated publicly our personal relationship with Christ through baptism by immersion and the celebration of Lord’s supper.
Statements:
Every member of FBC believes in the purpose of our church and the statement of faith.
Strategy:
Every member of FBC is seeking a closer walk with the savior by committing ourselves to three covenants. These covenants help to make us stronger believers and better ministers of the gospel to our community and the world.
Structure:
Every member of FBC recognizes that they are part of a larger whole. We all believe that the church is more than an organization, it is in fact a unified fellowship of believers, the body of Christ, and the flock of God.
How:
If you share in this same vision, then we would love for you to be a part of our fellowship. You can unite with us through these ways:
By profession of faith
If you have received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and desire to be baptized.
By transfer of your membership from another Baptist church
If God leads you to join our church family, we will be happy to welcome you and we will take the necessary steps to have your membership transferred here.
By statement of faith
If you know in your heart that you have received Jesus Christ as your personal Savior we will be delighted to receive you. If your present church membership is with a different denomination and you have been baptized by immersion, then in most cases we will warmly welcome you into our fellowship. If you coming from a different denomination and have not yet been baptized by immersion, we respectfully ask you to consider being by immersion as an open testimony of your commitment to Christ and our church.

There are two times that you can make this decision.
Sunday Worship
during one of the three worship services on Sunday.
Attend a 4-Week Session of First Class

* I’m already a member, but I would like to know how God has uniquely gifted me and how I can get more involved in using my gifts for Him.
If you’re a guest, long-time attendee, or current member with questions like these, First Class is the place to find answers. On Sunday mornings, from 9:30 am - 10:30 am, we will spend 4 weeks discovering answers together, getting to know each other, and give you the opportunity to join in accomplishing our mission and share in our vision. In First Class you will get the information needed to decide if FBC is the place to call “Home.” New classes are forming now, so sign up today!
